Lingual Braces

The term ‘lingual’ relates to the tongue and the surrounding area where the tongue sits. Lingual orthodontic appliances are placed on the back of the teeth, where the tongue rests, meaning they are hidden from plain view. Only if someone opened their mouth very wide would you notice that they were wearing these hidden braces.

Brackets are fully customised to fit the surfaces of the teeth with the wires being shaped according to the treatment plan. As the braces are fitted on the lingual side of the teeth, they are more discreet and can barely be seen at all. They will affect speech for the first few days, but adaptation quickly occurs so that the speech returns to normal.
